Why This Website Exists

For those of us who created this site, FIP arrived the way it arrives for everyone: suddenly, with a diagnosis nobody expected and a storm of questions for which there were no clear answers. We built the resource we wished had existed.

Why this site exists

When FIP antiviral treatment emerged, most available information was scattered across Facebook groups, buried in scientific papers, or mixed in with supplier sales pitches. Families in crisis, many with no veterinary background, were trying to make life-or-death decisions with incomplete, fragmented, or commercially biased information.

"El pif tiene cura" (Spanish for "FIP is curable") was created to fix this. We wanted one place, available in Spanish and English, where any family could find clear, honest, medically sound information without having to wade through sales funnels or navigate 50,000-member Facebook groups just to find a dosing table.

We have no products to sell

We do not sell, supply, or affiliate with any antiviral brand, supplier, or clinic. We receive no commission or payment from any FIP treatment provider. Our information is independent by design.

We cite our sources

Every clinical claim on this site references published peer-reviewed research or established veterinary guidelines. We distinguish clearly between established evidence and emerging data.

We are not vets

We are cat owners and FIP advocates, not veterinary professionals. We consistently recommend professional veterinary involvement. Our information is educational, not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment decisions.

We update as knowledge evolves

FIP treatment is a rapidly evolving field. We commit to updating our content as new research emerges, new treatment options become available, and community experience accumulates.

Who we are

We are a small team of cat lovers. Some of us have had cats with FIP. All of us have been through the desperate search for information. We are not vets: we are informed owners who work with vets so that what this site says is medically sound.

We have no commercial arrangement with any antiviral manufacturer. We receive no payment from any brand. We sell nothing on this site. Our only interest is that whoever lands here leaves with the information they need to fight for their cat.

Our values

Impartiality

We take no side for any particular brand, protocol or vet. Where there is scientific debate, we present it as debate. Where the evidence is clear, we say so clearly.

Scientific rigour

We work from studies published in peer-reviewed journals, from protocols developed by specialist vets, and from the data the FIP community has accumulated. Where the literature is unclear, we say that too.

Empathy

We know what an FIP diagnosis feels like. This site speaks to owners as what they are: people who love their cats and deserve honest, understandable information.

Community

Individual information matters, but a community of owners supporting each other has a value no article can replicate. That is why we encourage connection between owners and link to the most active support communities.

Our relationship with PIF Warriors

We are not a replacement for the incredible FIP owner communities: groups like FIP Warriors and others that have accumulated thousands of hours of real-world treatment experience. We complement them.

Our role is to provide the structured, indexed, language-accessible foundation. Their role is to provide the real-time, case-specific, community-validated knowledge. Both matter. We encourage every FIP family to join one of the major communities as soon as possible.

Content errors or corrections

We do our best to be accurate, but medical information is complex and evolving. If you believe something on this site is incorrect, outdated, or misleading, please contact us. We take corrections seriously and update content promptly.
