Why This Website Exists
For those of us who created this site, FIP arrived the way it arrives for everyone: suddenly, with a diagnosis nobody expected and a storm of questions for which there were no clear answers. We built the resource we wished had existed.
Why this site exists
When FIP antiviral treatment emerged, most available information was scattered across Facebook groups, buried in scientific papers, or mixed in with supplier sales pitches. Families in crisis — many with no veterinary background — were trying to make life-or-death decisions with incomplete, fragmented, or commercially biased information.
"El pif tiene cura" (Spanish for "FIP is curable") was created to fix this. We wanted one place — available in Spanish and English — where any family could find clear, honest, medically sound information without having to wade through sales funnels or navigate 50,000-member Facebook groups just to find a dosing table.
We have no products to sell
We do not sell, supply, or affiliate with any antiviral brand, supplier, or clinic. We receive no commission or payment from any FIP treatment provider. Our information is independent by design.
We cite our sources
Every clinical claim on this site references published peer-reviewed research or established veterinary guidelines. We distinguish clearly between established evidence and emerging data.
We are not vets
We are cat owners and FIP advocates, not veterinary professionals. We consistently recommend professional veterinary involvement. Our information is educational, not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment decisions.
We update as knowledge evolves
FIP treatment is a rapidly evolving field. We commit to updating our content as new research emerges, new treatment options become available, and community experience accumulates.
Our relationship with the FIP community
We are not a replacement for the incredible FIP owner communities — groups like FIP Warriors and others that have accumulated thousands of hours of real-world treatment experience. We complement them.
Our role is to provide the structured, indexed, language-accessible foundation. Their role is to provide the real-time, case-specific, community-validated knowledge. Both matter. We encourage every FIP family to join one of the major communities as soon as possible.
Content errors or corrections
We do our best to be accurate, but medical information is complex and evolving. If you believe something on this site is incorrect, outdated, or misleading, please contact us. We take corrections seriously and update content promptly.
Help us reach more families
Share this resource with anyone who has a cat with FIP. Information that reaches families in their first terrifying hours matters more than we can measure.
